LHC and Higgs Boson
For forty years, the Higgs boson has been a theoretical concept, but very soon, scientists may have a better idea of its existence. Based on recently published articles, new analysis has narrowed the Higgs range.
Furthermore data collected this fall at the LHC should be able to locate a faint signal from a Higgs, if it exist.
If they proceed as planned and finish their analysis by the year's end, physicists will soon have an answer. However even if the data doesn't show any Higgs, the LHC will still continue with its endeavour. The real appeal of the Higgs is the ability to unify the weak nuclear force with electromagnetism. Therefore the LHC will gather data to be potentially used to find a way in which electromagnetism and the weak force fit together. That process, is likely to take many years.

Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin LLC tends to be secretive about its commercial space program. However they recently released a brief video of its New Shepard suborbital space vehicle testing which had taken place on May 6 at their west Texas facility.
Blue Origin is one of the 4 firms chosen by NASA to develop and research future manned space vehicles. In addition to New Shepard suborbital space vehicle, Blue Origin is also working on an orbital space system, developing both a crew capsule and a reusable launch vehicle using some of the same concepts as the New Shepard.
